13th Century Listed Cottage Restoration

Our team carried out a comprehensive restoration and refurbishment of this listed 13th-century cottage, preserving its historic character while enhancing its structural integrity and comfort.

The project included the installation of a new slate and thatch roof, carefully designed to maintain the building’s traditional aesthetic. New stone fireplaces and chimneys were constructed to complement the period features. The floors were fully insulated and finished with a combination of slate tiles and oak boards, balancing authenticity with modern efficiency.

Bespoke timber windows and doors were handcrafted and installed, ensuring they remained in keeping with the cottage’s heritage. A custom-built oak spiral staircase was constructed on-site, along with handmade kitchen units, adding unique craftsmanship to the interior.

The original ‘batwing’ trussed roof was meticulously restored, and new bathrooms and a modern heating system were integrated to enhance functionality while maintaining historical charm. Finally, the entire cottage was replastered and decorated, bringing the restoration to completion with a refined and sympathetic finish.
